The principle of Sculptra treatment
Sculptra® is a 3D poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)–based treatment that works deep within the skin to help stimulate collagen production. The latest medical research has found that PLLA can help the regeneration of collagen. PLLA is a micro-injectable polymer with biodegradability and compatibility. After being injected into the skin, it can stimulate the proliferation of autologous collagen, improve aging problems such as depression and sagging, and provide a long-lasting, natural, and youthful treatment effect. It has the approval of the US FDA, the EU CE and the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare, with good safety.
After Sculptra® is injected into the deeper layers of the skin, it will immediately diminish facial wrinkles and depressions to give it back a plump shape. After 2-3 days of treatment, water is first absorbed by the skin, making the depressions and wrinkles temporarily back to their original status. However, when the PLLA particles enter the tissue, they will gradually undergo degradation and spread out among the skin and then be naturally absorbed by the human body.
